Client Is Injured On A Speed Boat

Our client, a mid thirties woman from Boca Raton, was riding in a speed boat with her friends. The ocean was choppy that day and there were sizeable waves around them. The boat owner and driver, who was not experienced, was driving the speed boat very fast on the water. The driver then drove head on into a wave and sent the speed boat flying into the air and crashing down into the water. The impact from the crash caused our client to fall out of her seat and land on the boat floor causing injuries to her left knee. The boat owner quickly realized he might be at risk of a lawsuit because immediately after our client was injured, he dropped her off at the dock and refused to speak further with her. When she called him asking him for money to help with her medical bills, he ignored her calls. Not knowing where to turn, she called the Boca Raton Boating Accident And Injury Attorneys Dell & Schaefer. Our firm quickly took the case and began zealously representing her interests.

Client Undergoes Surgery

Immediately after the accident, our client sought the care and medical treatment from a local chiropractor in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The chiropractor diagnosed her with sprain/strain and contusions to the knee. She underwent an intense physical therapy regimen. After months of treatment without improvement, she sought the care and medical attention of a local orthopedic surgeon. The orthopedic surgeon diagnosed her with a meniscus tear to the knee and recommended surgery. Since she failed to respond to conservative care, she decided to undergo the procedure.

Dell & Schaefer Negotiate A Settlement

After the surgery was performed our firm filed a lawsuit against the owner of the boat. It turned out that the boat owner did not have insurance on the date of the incident. Our firm continued with a lawsuit against the boat owner personally for damages. We sought monetary compensation for bodily injury, aggravation of a preexisting condition, pain and suffering, loss of consortium, disfigurement, disability, mental anguish, past and future medical expenses, lost wages, and impairment of ability to earn future wages. One month prior to trial the case settled for $50,000 with the boat owner. Our client was absolutely thrilled that our firm was able to procure a settlement against the boat owner when the boat owner failed to carry liability insurance. Many lawyers turned this case down once they found out there was no insurance. Our firm turned this case into a successful resolution.
