Client Is Struck By Truck With A Trailer Hitched To The Back

Our client, a retired victim, was riding his bicycle in Vero Beach, Florida. As he was crossing a street, suddenly and without warning, another vehicle struck him causing him to fall to the ground. The trailer then continued to drag our client for several feet before realizing our client was helplessly stuck to the attached trailer. Our client’s family immediately called the Vero Beach Trailer Accident Attorneys Dell and Schaefer. Our firm took the case and began zealously representing our client’s interests.

Our Client Passes Away From His Injuries

After about a month in the trauma and intensive care unit of the hospital, our client unfortunately could not survive his injuries. He had suffered several fractured ribs, as well as fractured vertebrae, and internal bleeding. Due to his age and physical condition, the injuries were too overwhelming for him to bounce back from.

Dell and Schaefer Negotiate A Settlement

After our firm heard the bad news, our firm immediately filed a bodily injury/wrongful death action against both the driver and the owner of the vehicle who caused the accident. The driver had a policy of insurance of $25,000 who tendered the payment of the policy limits immediately. Our firm then sought compensation from the owner of the vehicle who had a $750,000 combined policy of automobile insurance and excess umbrella coverage. At first the insurance company only wanted to offer $500,000. Our firm rejected the offer and demanded the full policy limits. Eventually the insurance company caved in and tendered the limits.
