United Automobile Car Insurance Claims

When the United Automobile Insurance Company was incorporated and began offering their services in the Miami Beach, Florida area in March 1989, the insurance company’s professed goal was to provide high quality insurance with low and competitive rates to the public. The main insurance target for the new company was providing non-standard insurance services for the general consumer.

United Automobile offers the following automobile insurance policies: comprehensive and collision insurance, liability insurance, medical and towing coverage, and more. As a non-standard insurance agent, United Automobile Insurance Company typically insures consumers who have been rejected by other companies as too “high risk”. Consumers May be classified as a high risk due to multiple accidents and claims, DUI records, or age. United Automobile Insurance also insures high risk vehicles such as sports cars and custom-made vehicles.

United Automobile Insurance Company offers many online services to consumers including policy access, purchasing of new policies, and even making payments or claims through their web-based services. It has offices in 12 states.

History of United Automobile Insurance Company

United Automobile Insurance Company is a family owned company. As of 2010, the CEO was listed as Richard Parrillo. Currently, United Automobile offers auto insurance in 12 states, with an apparent goal to gain access to more states each year. All of United Automobile’s insurance agents are well-trained and licensed, according to company claims, to provide insurance policies within the state they work.

As of 2009, United Automobile Insurance began offering other services through their affiliates that include financial services.

Due to being family owned, United Automobile Insurance is not traded on the open stock market and reamins solely owned by the original family.

Better Business Bureau Rating of United Automobile Insurance Company

United Automobile Insurance is not registered with the Better Business Bureau at this time. The fact that 45 complaints have been filed against the company and the failure of the company to respond to two of the complaints could be a contributing factor. The BBB gives this insurance company a F rating.

Open Court Cases against United Automobile Insurance Company

In May of 2009, a United Automobile Insurance policy holder was involved in an accident in Illinois. UAIC refused to defend their policy holder when he was sued by the other party for damages. In Illinois, the party was awarded a $180,000 settlement. In 2009, they filed suit against United Automobile Insurance for the $180,000.00.

This case is still open and has not been resolved between the parties.

Aside from the open case in Illinois, UAIC does not have any further claims or judgments against it in any of the 12 states the insurance company currently provides insurance services in.

If I would have did my homework an check the background of this company I wouldn’t be in this position. The bottom line is I had a policy with Uai and when I got into an accident they did nothing, it’s been a month and now they want to say the policy is null and void. If I pay my premiums the law should require Uai to do their part. I’m getting a lawyer and I’m putting a complaint with Illinois Attorney General.

My vehicle was involved in an accident with one of their policy holders and he was found to be at fault. They are refusing to pay for my car. This company is a fraud. I too have gotten a lawyer.

This company does not want to pay for my car to be fixed due to their client’s mistake when she backed into my car.

Similar to many accounts I have read, I am still awaiting resolution to damages to my vehicle due to their insured error. I have tried getting supervisors names and extensions but to no resolution. Extremely frustrated with the customer service of this company and the time it takes for data and evidence to be collected.

My 2000 Volkswagen was stolen (yes, 2000) and not recovered on September 4, 2013. We immediately called the police and filed our theft report. Two days later we called the United Auto and filed a claim. Two weeks later we get a theft affadavit form, we completed and send it back. We were also required to send phone records of my phone for 4 days, we complied, it clearly showed the 911 called to the police, yet they state the records are text messages only, how in the hell can we text 911?

Todays date is 10/22/2013. No 45 extension letter sent to me requesting more, all of the sudden these jerks put my claim under reservation of rights?? And are requesting a Examination Under Oath? Really? For a $2,300 claim?

Had I done my homework about this cheap ass insurance, I would have never never had bought insurance here.

I have been with this company for many years and have had on 1 claim.

I filed a TDI Complaint but am sure, nothing will be done as I heard this people never respond to complaints.

I will file a grievance complaint directly against the adjuster Antonio Flores here in Dallas, then write the Owner of United Auto.

I have continued to pay for two months full coverage for a vehicle I no longer have. They never offered me a rental of explained rental even though I was entitled to receive one.

Upset customer,
Gabino Marquez

I also was insured with UAI. Everything was OK until my SUV was vandalized. Somebody broke the passenger window and damaged the console. After filing an insurance claim, I had to wait for a week for adjuster to come and then found out that they declared my car a total loss, because they did not want to pay for new parts. My SUV besides broken window and damaged console was in excellent mechanical shape. Far from being a “total loss”! I tried to talk to to few adjusters but they were very rude and controlling. They new they got a “good deal” because after paying off my finance company they still were going to sell the car at the auction. I lost not only very good vehicle but still had to make 3 payments to my finance company, since theirs payout offer was less than what I owed. United Automobile Insurance should be closed down because they are money hungry and provide worst costumer service from all the insurance companies I had before. Never do business with those scammers!

Today she called me; she is the adjuster of the other person who hit my brand new Dodge 2013; she is going to pay only 50%, but also she hang up on my conversation with her. I call to made a complaint but nothing, Maria from the claim department called me and she apologised to me, but still they are so bad, a bad company, I hope someone do something about it.

UAI of Florida is a terrible company, I recently had dealings with this company, they are dishonest in their assessment of the case. I got blamed for a policyholder of UAI backing into my car, and I didn’t get enough to properly repair my car. They are crooks and I advise anyone to get a lawyer in dealing with this company. I rate them a F.

One of UAIC’s insured struck my car from the rear on March 3, 2014. I have the police report which clearly states that the driver of the car that struck me was at fault. Yesterday, I had to personally pay for my car repair which was $846.77. I was forced to pay because UAIC was ripping me off on the rental car and would not return calls from either me or the collision center. My car is a 2011 Honda Odyssey EX-L and it was repaired by Hendrick Honda of Charlotte, NC. My rear bumper was messed up and the estimate I got was for the figure above. Even the policemen at the scene after a cursory look estimated $600. UAIC sent a check of $279.24, which on the advice of my personal insurance agent I voided and am returning to them along with the repair charges and rental car charges. This company is a sham and should not be able to operate. Please help!

Jacinta James:

I am a UAIG. On March 16, 2014, I had an accident where I hit a ditch trying to avoid hitting a deer. They sent me to a body shop that they are in cahoots with who gave me an estimate of $3,983.94. Three weeks later they cut a check to the body shop (not me, the person who pays an insurance premium to this incompetent insurance provider) in the amount of $802.71. Parts alone was $2,300. My deductible is $500. So maybe they need to go back to school and learn basic mathematics because $500 from $3,983.94 is NOT $802.71! then on top of that, the customer service rep handling my case (Jessica O’Brien) needs customer service etiquette classes where she learns to listen instead of interrupting me so damned much and over talking me to the point she could only hear herself talking! Have never dealt with an insurance company so unreliable, untrustworthy, and just outright blatant liars and crooks. I’m gonna complain anywhere and everywhere until they hear me!

Jason Macri:

Ms. James,

You do not need to accept their payment and have the right to challenge it. You need to write them a letter and provide supporting documentation of the actual amount to repair your car. Please include invoices and estimates from a reputable body shop.

Melinda Anderson:

My grandsons were involved in what is known as a T-Bone auto accident with one of UAIC insured who was ticketed and found at fault. UAIC denied payment for the medical bills and pain and suffering. The agent bluntly stated that I did not report the injury at the time of my filing with him, when in fact, I did and received a claim number.

Jason Macri:

Melinda,

UAC is one of the most difficult insurance companies to deal with from our experience. Please contact us privately to discuss your claim. If you were injured and received medical treatment shortly after the car accident, then we should be able to assist you.

I was hit by one of their policy holders and they were at fault. I took my car to the facility offered by them. My car took longer to fix because they had order a piece and it took longer. They approved it and were inform by the repair shop. Now they are refusing to pay the full amount of the car rental because it took too long.

I am having the same problem. Did anyone ever get the problem resolved? I have been trying for almost a month now and I still got nothing. I was told that Jennifer was handling my case, I have been calling her all week and still have not gotten a call back from her yet. I need to know what do I need to do next right now I am stuck…

Ora,

United Auto is very difficult to deal with which is one of the reasons they are the cheapest insurance a person can buy. Stay on top of them and you will get somewhere with them.

I was invloved in a hit and run by policy holder from United Auto Ins. on 1/24/2015 & here we are 3/17/2015 and I’m no closer to resolving this issue than I was at the begging of my claim. I have been lied to time after time, now they say that if policy holder doesn’t claims responsibility that they are not going to honor my claim. After my vehicle was hit I chased him and caught up to him that’s when he gave him all his info. His name was on the policy and now United Auto said that he might be excluded from the policy. It was his policy and he was listed as the driver. I don’t know what to do any help would be appreciated.

Jason Macri:

Bobby,

Unfortunately it seems that you are getting the run around from United Auto. Were you injured in this accident? Do you have uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM) coverage on your own insurance policy? If so, you may be able to get compensated. Please call me at your convenience so we can discuss your options.

I was rear-ended by a UAIC insured person on Valentine’s day and it took them 8 weeks to send someone to look at my car. In 30 minutes he determined that it was a total loss and now a week later I’m still trying to receive a response from an adjuster on the next steps. The claim has been reassigned, they have been conducting an investigation due to the other driver not being on the policy and no one is telling me what the next steps are in regards to negotiating a price for my car. I have been reassigned to Jessica O’Brien. Please help.

Tiffany A.:

I need to report this company to the owner. The customer servers hang up on you supervisors don’t return calls. They been telling me for over 60 days they sent a refund check. I asked them for the address they mailed it from so the post office can track it down if they ever sent a check. I’m believing there fraud. Who do I report this to?

Wednesday, January 18, 2017
Attorney Jason Macri:

Hi Tiffany,

You may want to file your report with the department of insurance for your state.

Darren W.:

I filed a claim with United Auto Insurance company back in January 2017 and my claim has not been resolved. They say its under investigation and this is the second one which I can’t understand why the car was insured at the time and I have been told there is an estimate for the vehicle but they never did come out and look at the car. They went by what the mechanic who worked on my vehicle told them and the lien holder on the car faxed a receipt and that’s hasn’t been good enough the insurance adjuster is not a good one and is never available to take your call. Now I know why this insurance company is the worst I have ever dealt with without a doubt.

Robert J. R.:

I was rear-ended by someone insured by UAIC. I called them and got a claim number but they won’t return phone calls, and won’t approve a rental car won’t. They keep transferring me from one person to the next. Delay after delay and all the while my car sits in the body shop waiting for authorization to be fixed. This company is a fraud. Here’s a link where the State of Florida Office of Insurance Regulation sued UAIC for numerous complaints just like the ones listed on this site. Here’s the link http://www.floir.com/siteDocuments/United_Auto_IC_74212-03-CO.pdf. I finally went through my own insurance company and had a rental car the day I notified them about the accident and the problems with UAIC.

Robert J.:

Hi Jason,
I was injured but not seriously. I’ve been going to a Chiropractor every day and will continue for a while. I’m 74 years old and somewhat frail. I do have uninsured motorist coverage and my insurance company (Central Mutual) has provided excellent service so far. I have full coverage with Medical Payments limited to $5000 which I’m sure is more that I will need. The estimate to repair the car is $9,500. My insurance took only one day to send an adjuster to the body shop and do the estimate. I was notified the following day that a check in that amount was on it’s way. Excellent and fast service. I’m sure my insurance will go after UAIC because the other driver (he rear-ended me on freeway). I’m planning on having a diminished value report done after the car is repaired (Lexus) and go after UAIC for the loss. I plan to send a demand letter with a copy of the report allowing 30 days for a response. I will send it by registered mail. If they don’t respond (which is what I expect)I will file a small claims action against them in the State of Arizona. Attorneys are not allowed to represent anyone in Arizona in Small Claims Court. I expect they will not appear and I’ll win by default. Now I’ll be right back where I started trying to collect a judgement from a non-responsive fruadulant privately held (family owned) so called insurance company. It’s sad that these guys have been able to get away with this for so long.

Fran:

This company robo calls me using fake phone numbers as caller ID of people unaware that their phone number is being used. My phone number was used a couple of times. I get an average of 2-4 calls a day. Each time I check the number on Truecaller it show a private person owns the number.

Today I answered the call, listen to the recording, and opted to talk to someone in an attempt to halt these calls. A life female came on the line. I asked for the company name and location. I was told it was united automobile insurance. As for location she responded we are all over the country. When I asked where it’s headquartered, she refused to respond. I told her I Reece at least 2-4 calls from this company per day and would like my number removed from any further robo calls as I have no need nor interest. She got snotty. I told her I don’t appreciate you using my number and numerous other private phone numbers without permission to prevent the public from reporting this abuse and/or blocking the continued nuisance calls, now that I had the company name I would be reporting the company. She only responded “good luck with that” chuckled and hung up on me. How can I get these calls stopped? I live in Charlotte and kept my phone number from Arizona. The fake numbers always have 480-233- and then various last 4 numbers. Because the assume I’m in Arizona I receive calls all day and night, I even get calls at 11 and 12 o’clock at night, they are constantly waking me up!! Because they are using fake phone numbers no matter how many times o block the number the call came from, since they never use the same number twice, I am unable to stop these calls!! Please help me stop these calls! Thank you

Marling H.:

I bought a full cover with UAIC and when I bought the insurance they ask me if I’m the only one going to drive the car and I say yes because that’s the only car I have and I use to go to work and everywhere. Now I got into an accident, I was guilty and they don’t want to fix my car because they say the people who live in my house has to be in the policy even though they do not drive my car. That’s the ridicules things I heard. I’m looking for a good lawyer to fight this people. Please help me.
Thanks.
Marling H.

Tuesday, April 10, 2018
Attorney Jason Macri:

Hi Marling,

Do the other people who live in the home who have vehicles registered in their names also have their own insurance policies? Are there any people living in the home who do not have vehicles registered in their names? Did anyone who lives in the household get injured in this crash? These are some factors that will go into whether UAIC needs to provide coverage.
