AAA Car Insurance Claims

The American Automobile Association, AAA, is known primarily for its emergency road services. Many people don’t realize that AAA agencies also act as an insurance broker in some regions selling car insurance, travel insurance and even home and life insurance.

Because each regional club offers different services, the main AAA website requests the input of a local zip code. Visitors are then redirected to the regional AAA website where specific information on purchasing AAA membership, automobile insurance, etc. may be obtained.

Types of motor insurance that may be purchased through AAA include automobile, collector car, motorcycle and RV/motor home coverage. Information on the insurance companies will be provided when an insurance quote is requested.

As a broker for different insurance providers, AAA connects members to insurance providers who accept both high and low risk customers, discounts for safe driving records, and other desirable benefits.

History of AAA Auto Insurance

AAA’s roots go back to the early days of automobiles. Founded in 1902 by 1,000 auto enthusiasts, the initial purpose of the group was to promote auto-friendly roads. The first maps came out in 1905. Hotel guides were next in 1917. In 1920, the School Safety Patrol program was put in place. This was the first of many driver safety programs.

Up through the mid 1950’s AAA dabbled with sponsoring American auto racing, but divested itself of racing connections in 1955 after a serious racing disaster on the Indianapolis 500 track in 1955.

Over the years, AAA has come to offer many services, including travel planning, travel insurance, and travel auto insurance. Most services connected with AAA relate to automobiles, though there are some exceptions. Annuity and health insurance may be purchase through AAA as well as property and casualty coverage.

Financial Strength of AAA Auto Insurance

Because AAA does not actually sell auto insurance, there are no rankings for AAA Auto Insurance. Rather the strength of the company behind the coverage purchased through AAA is the factor that matters.
