Client Rents A Hotel For The Night

Our client, a middle aged mother of two, rented a hotel on Ocean Drive in Hollywood, Florida. After she put her children to bed for the night, she lied down to sleep in the other bed. Within 15 minutes she felt itchy and scratchy sensations up and down her arms and legs. Thinking it was just an itch that would go away, she closed her eyes and fell asleep. She woke up in the middle of the night in complete pain. She looked under the covers and realized she was bleeding on her arms and legs. She saw thousands of bed bugs crawling around on the sheets which were also all over her body and under her clothes. She immediately jumped out of bed, ran to the shower and washed off the bugs. She then took her children out of the hotel room and told the management. The manager chuckled and tried to simply send them to another room. But when she opened up her luggage she realized the bed bugs also entered her luggage and had infested everything she had with her in the hotel room. She refused to sleep in another room and demanded a refund, for which the hotel manager refused to do. Not knowing what else to do, she called the Hollywood Bed Bugs Attorneys Dell & Schaefer.

Client Seeks Medical Treatment

After she called our office, one of our attorneys instructed her to go to the hospital to be sure she did not contract any diseases from the bed bugs. He also instructed her to take a few samples of dead bed bugs and keep them in a plastic bag. Our firm also sent a private investigator to take pictures of the bed bug bites all over her body. The client did go to the hospital and was diagnosed with multiple insect bites. She received medication and was released.

Dell & Schaefer Negotiate A Settlement

Within days of receiving the medical records, our firm filed a bodily injury demand against the insurance company for the hotel. We sought monetary compensation for bodily injury, pain and suffering, loss of consortium, disfigurement, disability, mental anguish, past and future medical expenses, lost wages, and impairment of ability to earn future wages. After a lengthy negotiation, the case settled for $30,000.

I stayed at a Comfort Inn suites in NY Friday – Monday. Me and my children checked in on Friday, they spent the night with family and I was the only one to sleep in the room Friday night. I woke up itching but had planned to meet family for a wedding so it didn’t dawn on me the reason. My husband flew up and checked in on Sat while I was out with family and decided to get in the bed to take a nap. Noticed stain sheets, called the front desk and when housekeeping was removing the sheets they both saw the bed bug. He killed it and took pictures. The staff moved us to another room and go figure on Monday my whole family in the new room woke up to another bed bug in our bed. We took more pictures. The refunded our room and washed our luggage and clothes but those items have been damaged from the savage attempt. The GM will not return my call for compensation. I have sought medical attention for my bites and injuries.

I recently stayed at a hotel in Mississippi and after a nights stay I noticed a bite on my hands on day two I had room service come and change sheets, by day three I has numerous bites on my shoulder, chest and back area. I decided to check out on thursday a day earlier than scheduled. Upon leaving I did a report with security and was given a number to call on Monday of the next week. I have never experienced bed bug, nor was I able to recover any but the risk manager of the hotel I contacted on Monday was very rude and basically said I brought the bugs with me if there were any at all. All I know is I am still itching from the bites and they are definately going to leave scaring.
