Hi, I have a huge case against Aarons Furniture Rentals. They are an international company who has given bed bugs to many people including myself. I have all the facts, medical documentation, evidence and paperwork needed. But I live in PA and have a criminal history. It’s a misdemeanour charge. Would you take my case?

Tasha:

Hi, I’m Natasha and I live in Phoenix City AL and me and my daughter were bitten by bed bugs and we got a serious skin infection from it and also had to go to the emergency room. We have spots all over us and we can’t stop itching and we can’t get any sleep. We reported it to the owner and he complained and finally gave us a different room. We paid for a whole week.

Andrea:

Hi,

My husband and I planned to stay at a resort in Northern MN for one night. Shortly after I booked my stay, I read on trip advisor that Oct, 2013, they found bed bugs in someone’s room. Since they don’t give refunds on deposits, I called to inquire if the problem had been taken care of. The person I spoke to (I don’t remember her name) said that the room was treated and that I should not have any problems. I asked if we could be as far away from the recently affected room as possible. She put me on hold and then said that my room was far away. I told her that we don’t have money to deal with a bed bug issue. She assured me once again that the room is fine. 10 days after our stay, I developed several bites. We dumped our king mattress and box springs and spent $1200 on a new one. A week later, my husband had about 75 bites. I went to the doctor and he confirmed that they were bed bug bites. I went to the bedbug registry and found a total of five incidents at this resort in the past 2 years. Today, we paid $3200 for our house to be heat treated. We also had to endure 135 degree temperatures for 10 minutes to make sure that we were disinfected – my daughter could not handle this. I am unemployed and we can’t afford this or a reinfestation. We took several pictures of our bites and a doctors confirmation. Do we have a case? This has affected us psychologically and physically. Our relatives would like us to stay away from their homes until this is resolved. Two questions: Do we have a case? If we have a case, do I wait to speak to an attorney before I speak with the hotel manager for the first time (we have been playing phone tag).

Gregory Dell:

Andrea,

It sounds like you have a very strong bed bug case against the hotel you stayed at. At this point, you should not speak to anyone from the hotel without speaking to any attorney first. We are available to speak with you immediately and you can call us toll free at 800-828-7583.

Bed bug issue in McAlester Oklahoma at the Hampton. I was not gone from my room for even 30 minutes, room 103. Upon my return the pest control man was already in my room alone while I was approaching with the pest spray in his hand, the bed was turned upside down and a drawer with my personal items was wide open. I travel extensively for work and carry with me at all time a laptop, printer, iPad, and cell phone as well as my personel belongings. This man that I have never seen before and who did not work for the hotel continued to spray for bugs before I even had a chance to pack up my things and finally walked out a few minutes later. Of course before he left he made sure to give me a complete visual of the spiders and eggs which were heavily attached to the bottom of the box springs, which has now been revealed that they were actually bed bugs. That will help me sleep at night, and the only feedback I received from the hotel was that I had a new room and it was larger. I am sure you realize that I know have no confidence that the same thing is not happening down the hall in this room, room 125 as well, and I found myself not wanting to return to the hotel for fear of more bugs. As someone who spends 6 months in a hotel a year, I was completly taken back by the entire situation, and the non chalant way that it was addressed. I have had to see a doctor, contact the health department, the Hampton franchise, and have missed two days of work.

Eddie:

If a hotel says the room has no problem and say they had it inspected by a pest control company, do I have a right to see the report?

Saturday, February 15, 2014
Grant Schwarz:

Eddie,

The hotel is not required to show you a pest control report. You have the option to not stay in the room. If a lawsuit is filed, then the hotel must turn over any pest control inspection report.

Coressa Hubbard:

My daughter and two other friends stayed in the Wyndham Hotel Days INN located in Alexandria VA. They were awakened at 7:00 AM due to itching. They woke up and pulled back the sheets and found bed bugs and multiple bites all over their body. They recorded two videos and 5 pictures of their bites. When reported to the front desk clerk she was told that there was nothing they could do but give them a 20 dollar discount on their next stay. My daughter could not sleep, her eye was swollen shut due to the bites. We had to take her to the doctors where she received a steroid shot multiple pills and a sleeping aid due to her anxiety of something crawling on her. Do we have a case?

Tuesday, March 11, 2014
Grant Schwarz:

Coressa,

What happened to your daughter is terrible and unacceptable on the part of Wyndham Hotel and Days Inn. A $20 discount is in no way shape or form going to compensate your daughter for what she has been through. Our bed bug lawyers have been successful in obtaining compensation or reimbursement for clients for the following: Physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses and treatment, property damage, such as discarded clothing, furniture or toiletries, lost wages and reimbursement for out of pocket expenses.

Please call us at 800-383-7853 to go over all the facts surrounding your daughter’s potential case against Wyndham Hotel and Days Inn.

John Joaquin:

I stayed at a Hampton Inn in New Albany, IN. After being in the room for an hour I noticed Bed bugs crawling on the bed. I call the front desk and the sent up 2 staff members who verified bed bugs. Needless to say I check out. While they did not charge me for the hour stay I did incur expenses of having to wash all my cloths. Buy and spray down all my luggage and personal effects. I have been trying to resolve the issue with Hampton Inn as well as the hotel in question. While Hampton has been helpful and has opened a case file the hotel has refused to call me back and or take accountability for the condition of the room or the mental anguish that I have endured. This has been going on for over a week. I need legal assistance.

Grant Schwarz:

John,

From the sound of it, it appears as though you currently have no physical injuries in the form of bed bug bites, but you are suffering from physiological or emotional injuries. Not every bed bug claim involves physical injuries. Most of the time, hotels and insurance companies dismiss emotional injuries, but these types of injuries are real and can take months if not years to heal. Just because you have no physical injuries are you in anyway barred from presenting a claim. We have represented multiple clients with physiological or emotional injuries caused by bed bugs. Call us at 800-383-7853 so we can learn more about you potential claim against the Hampton Inn located in New Albany IN.

Hi, me and my girlfriend moved into our apartment about a Month ago and were warned before moving in that the guy that had lived here before us had a bed bug infestation, thinking that palm vista apartments would have taken care of it. As you know its their job to inspect the entire apartment for any type of bug to make sure its move in ready. Well our move in date comes and we start moving our stuff in, after getting all moved in about a week or two later my girlfriend started getting these bites in random spots over her body. We then realized that it was bed bug bites. We have pictures of mutiple bed bugs that we have seen in our bed. They send matience to come spray our apartment the first time they did the worste job didn’t even spray our whole apartment, the second time they sprayed everywhere, can we sue them if the bed bugs were already here and we did not bring them in, due to multiple neighbors saying the guy that lived here before had an infestation, not only that the property manager even said the guy that lived here before had an infestation and apparently paperwork showing they treated it. They sure did one horrible job of doing it. I’m sick of this. What can we do? Please help.

I moved into a house with my family that was infested with spiders and roaches, later on we got bed bugs. I told my landlord about it and he tried blaming it on fleas. I’ve captured the bed bugs showed him and everything. He says it’s not his problem. I’ve spent 100$ alone on laundry another 70 on prisons and we still have them. We threw away couches beds clothes just because of these bugs. Homosassa Florida, renting a house.

Thursday, May 29, 2014
Jason Macri:

Sarah,

The landlord is responsible to get rid of the bed bugs. You need to contact the department of health for the State and your city. You need to have the home treated by an exterminator and it must be heat treated. Send your complaints to the landlord via certified mail in order to protect yourself. Take pictures of the bugs and all property damage. Get medical treatment as soon as possible for your injuries.

Belinda:

I have a bedbug infestation in my appt. My family is contantly being bitten by these terrible little creatures. I find them in my bed everynight and they leave blood stains all over my sheets. I have been living with them for over 1 year now because we can’t afford to move. I wrote the landlord a letter about 1 year ago and withheld rent for 2 months because of the furniture. I lost and he accepted it. I am each month cleaning out the appt. by using 90 percent alchohol and the steam method and they seem to go away for a short while then they are back again. The landlord still does nothing to stop them. I watch how he keeps renting the appts. to new tenants and he knows that there are bedbugs in them. I have not paid my rent for the last 4 months because I refuse to while I have to live with these bedbugs. I have pictures and former tenants who admit that they were here before I moved in. I have never had or seen bedbugs before in my life they have really messed up my life having to sleep with these monsters. Please, can you help me?

Saturday, June 7, 2014
Jason Macri:

Belinda,

You should immediately call the State or County Department of Health to inspect the property.

Sarah:

What if my uncle who also lives under the same landlord brought a mattress over from his house and that’s why we got them. Both houses have it and my uncle or the landlord will do anything about it. We’ve had them for a couple months now; throw away couches, beds and we still have them.

Tuesday, June 17, 2014
Jason Macri:

Sarah,

This fact pattern unfortunately sounds like one where the landlord may not be liable as it would be very hard to prove.

belinda gamez:

I have called the city inspectors several times and so have other tenants in my apts and the inspector says there is nothing they can do about the infestation. I want to know if I have legal grounds to sue my landlord for uninhabitable living conditions and since I have not paid rent for the last 4 months because he has done nothing about the infestation problem, am I in the wrong?

Thursday, June 19, 2014
Jason Macri:

Belinda,

You can sue your landlord for personal injuries, but the landlord could counterclaim against your for rent not paid.

Barbara King:

I live in an apartment complex in WV and the girl next to me had bed bugs. The owners of the complex had her unit treated but not mine or the other person next to her or anyone else in the building. Now my apt has bed bugs and I had to throw a lot of my clothes away and furniture. The bug inspector came and only looked at my bed and said that they were flour beetles. He didn’t check anything else and two days later after I complained he came back after I caught the bugs and put them in a jar and gave them to the manager. In the meantime I got rid of the couch and chair which they were on. When he came back to do the inspection he said they were definitely bed bugs that I had caught. So far my apt has not been treated but the manager said as soon as she gets the paper work together for me to sign that also included what I need to do before the apt could be treated, she would have the apt treated. I do not feel that they are doing the treatments right and should not be doing just one apt as it comes up. Other tenants have had problems too. As of right now I am miserable and will be going to the emergency to get something for the itching and the bites as none of the over the counter medicines have helped. I didn’t take pictures of the bugs and didn’t know to until after I saw your page.

Monday, June 23, 2014
Jason Macri:

Barbara,

When one apartment is treated, then the bed bugs just go to the apartment next store. Make sure you don’t sign anything releasing your rights to bring a claim against the property owner. You are entitled to compensation for your property damage, medical bills, and any emotional distress or suffering. Please contact us privately.

Sharon Bristow:

My boyfriend and I stayed 2 nights in Gettysburg at the Red Carpet Inn I got a reaction on the afternoon following my 1st nights stay. I went to Gettysburg emergency room and was told it was bites
I was prescribed prednisone and to apply cortisone cream. I have panic attacks and medication phobia for which I’m disabled.

We were headed to Washington DC after that where we stayed at The Hotel Lombardy which is very elegant and I’m embarrassed that we likely gave them bed bugs. May I add that we did see 2 bugs on the bed the 1st night but we are from New Hampshire and I had no idea it could have been bed bugs as I didn’t get the reaction til the next day. After we left for DC I was covered in bites and hives. In DC all I did was cry and wanted to go home. I had several panic attacks and didn’t sleep much. After a 2. night stay at the Lombardi I woke up the last morning and my eyes were getting puffy so in a panic I went to George Washington University Hospital emergency room. They said to take the prednisone still and wanted me to I take benadryl and the cortisone cream. I left and visited the Smithsonian for about 45 mins and skipped out on a tour of the Capitol thru the Senators office that we had arranged 2 months in advance because I just wanted to go home. We left at by noon and got home at 10 pm. I was in a state of panic the whole 500 plus miles home. We stripped in our garage and left all the luggage in the garage and went to bed in pjs we had at home. I itched all night. So I then got an appt with my own Doctor in the morning and she said she felt they were bed bugs ad well. But if I wanted to confirm that I should see a dermatologist. So the next day my boyfriend and I drove the 50 or 60 miles one way to Manchester NH and saw a dermatologist she definitely confirmed bed bug bites. I had over 100 bites and that’s the ones I could see not including my back side. It’s been about 9 days we’ve been home and I still have panic attacks every day and I saw my therapist today as I’ve been crazed. I’ve called 2 pest control places and I can’t get am inspection til it’s been 14 days so I live in fear that we have to wait til we definitely have them before they can come. I have to throw out a $300 purse all our lluggage and my camera bag as I’m a working photographer. My boyfriend has to throw out his saxophone case as well as backpacks and all luggage. I brought in the clothes to wash and all it did was scare me to death. We have a $3500 mattress and I’ve heard if you get them you have to throw it out! I’m enraged… on edge… panicked… and the lack of sleep and stress has now brought me down with an upper respiratory infection. It doesn’t end. To make all this worse some people have a delayed reaction where mine was more severe… my boyfriend broke out 3 days ago. He has over 100 bites too! My mind is racing. Is it a delayed reaction? Or do we have them in the house ?? I called a personal injury lawyer in Gettysburg but I haven’t signed papers for representation yet as they have not arrived. I saw your site said National… and that you are specialized in bed bugs so thought I’d write. I did mention to the hotel manager I got bit by something and all he said was he was sorry and it wouldn’t happen again. And asked us to come again! I’m furious… and scared. I want sleep! I’m desperate.

If you can help please email me. I couldn’t catch the 2 bugs we saw they were quick. Also I did look up what a bed bug looks like after we checked out and it was EXACTLY the same as what we saw! Every itch now scares me and every bug I see.

Please help if you can.

Hi,

I have a huge bed bug issue in my apartment, and I told my landlord and he won’t do anything about it. I have two children in my home and they are getting bit on a daily basis. I live in a 6 family building in Woonsocket and nobody will help me… is there anyone who could help because there are bedbugs inside and out due to mattresses outside and my landlord don’t care about any of his tenants. I have new furniture and now there all infested with bedbugs. Can someone help me please?

Wednesday, August 6, 2014
Jason Macri:

Rich,

Depending on what state you live in there maybe laws requiring the landlord to take action. You should contact the Department of Health in your state and look immediately for a new unit. The landlord will have a hard time coming after you for anything. You will have a right to seek damages against the landlord.

Jason:

Hi,

Me, my fiancee and my two kids moved into an apartment last year around late June. We had a new landlord buy the house 2 months after and a month later sent a letter saying they found out that there was a infestation in the apartments and it was from a tendent that movebefore we moved in. Also they said on it that they would take care of the problem very soon and at a well thought out extermination. Well now it’s been a year since that letter and nothing happened. My kids was always getting bit up all on there back, arms and legs to where it looked like hives. We sent e-mail after e-mail to him but was always ignored. Till last month 7/30/14 we took pictures and sent it to him saying we are sick of it. He finally sent a exterminator out. But it was one of his buddies from highschool that would do it cheap and he only did a quick spray of one apartment and the landlord wouldn’t even put us into a hotel. He told us he couldn’t afford it and for us to stay with another tendent in the same building. When the exterminater came they threw out our beds and a couch. He said he would replace them but the next day we told him the bedbugs were still here. Then he texted us the next day saying the he noticed our lease was up and that the only way to get rid of the bed bugs is for us to move out. He said we have 10 days to have our stuff out. Also that he was keeping the security deposit for the exterminater expenses. I want to sue him for the pain and suffering the my kids had to go through from them having to get out of bed to sleep in the hall at night to try to get away from them biting them. Also I wanted to sue for the furnishings that was thrown out and I have yet to hear a reply about me asking about it. How much of a case do you think I have?

Saturday, August 9, 2014
Jason Macri:

Jason,

I think that you have a strong case against the landlord, but the value will depend the extent of the injuries you and your family suffered. Please contact us privately to discuss.

Glenn O'Clair:

I recently stayed at a hotel in Skokie IL August 5th and 6th 2014. After my first night I recieved an attack of around 100 bed bug bites. I said something to front desk and they said they would switch my room. No apology was given. Which made me think this must be common. I left for work and returned 4 hours later. I told the new front desk lady, she was not aware of the problem, still no apology, and said I would have to come back later they had no room for me at that time. When I returned and got my new room I asked to talk to the manager. I finally got an apology but only after I told him about the others not. He gave me a refund for one night. I never had this happen and did not know what to expect. These welts are bad. They itch so much and look disgusting? I stay at hotels 50 to 80 nights a year and don’t feel it will ever be the same. I don’t know what to do next, I took pictures but have not gone to the doctor. I won’t have money for that till Tues. Please advise.

Thank you,
Glenn O’Clair

Jason Macri:

Felecia Godbolt:

I need some help with my bed bug situation. My family and I stayed for a period of 2 weeks at Inntown Suites waiting for our apartment to become available. We first thought we were being bitten by mosquitoes but after the nightly drastic itching episodes and swelling and too many bites to count we figured it must be bed bugs. This has been the most embarrassing ordeal I’ve encountered. I am constantly scratching and digging because of the bites on my buttocks, legs, arms, breast, & thighs. I have been self treating w/cortisone and neosporin. I have not been able to rest thinking about the bugs we may have brought with us. We can not afford to throw our things away because we just brought all of our kids new school clothes to the hotel. We were inconvenienced because we had planned on staying until Oct 1, but had to repack and take all of our belonging with us and keep in the car at our new hotel. Also we had to pay more than anticipated to move out of the hotel because there were no other rooms available. We were refunded for one week because the agent on duty stated that was protocol for bed bugs. I reminded him that I had been there for 2 wks and had to pack up my belonging that I did not have room for in the car and take them with us to Miami to drop off my oldest child to college on 8/22. He was not sympathetic at all. I had mentioned to the lady at the desk that we were being bitten in the room at night and she asked did we have any pets and that it could be fleas and she would place our room on the list for pest control. When the Orkin man arrived he immediately pulled the mattress from the head board and told us our bed was infested. We had to stay in the hotel room for another night and was not offered another room or funds to pay for another hotel because we had paid in advance. I emailed the complaint section on the web and have not gotten a response from any one. I think this was a nightmare me and my family will never forget and have to get over thinking bugs are in my hair and on my body. My children have been on edge because of this bug madness. Please can you help us. I will have to take a day off to go to the dermatologist because my skin is bruising because of the infection. I had a fever all weekend but could not go to the doctor because I was out of town trying to get my daughter settled in for college. All weekend I have been in pain and itching due to excessive itching and scratching. Thank you for your comments.

My son who is autistic, has been complaining of bites and itching for months. His live-in-support person is hired by Open Arms, Inc., a private provider of Agency for Persons Disabilities. He has been brought to his physician 2x, by his coach. Physician perscribes zertex, supposed to reduce allergic reaction, yet only makes my son sleepy. The open sores on his arms, legs are healing slowly. Bed bug infestation was found a week ago, on Friday, and treatment by Terminix has begun. Rental apartment company insists payment must be made by tenents. Open Arms, Inc has been less than cooperative. Apartment Household is in disarray as live-in checked into hospital. There was not alternative live in offered for my son from Open Arms, Inc. My son won’t go sleep there because he ia afraid he will get bitten again, and so am I.

Shann Weyand:

Hi! I recently moved into this apartment on Sept. 23rd and we have been getting bit by something. I notified the apartment owner and she said that usually her tenants bring things with them. I told her that my home before this apartment I had never had these bug bites. She said that she had sprayed twice before I moved in and that it was impossible that the apartment had these bugs before me. She called her pest control guy and he came in and sprayed the base boards again. We continued to get bites so I googled pics of bug bites and I summed it down to bed bugs. So I called my own pest control guy to do a bed bug inspection and yep what do you know: BED BUGS. I took the pest control paperwork that showed and proved that the apartment had the bugs before I moved in it because my bed and furniture was not marked by the little devils but the base boards and window blinds did. The pest control guy explained that there was only two ways of really getting rif of them. And that was an expensive chemical treatment or a heat method. I explained all of this to the owner and she said she will not do the heat method and she told her maintenance man to go to Lowes or Home depot to get some stuff and for him to call around and price some other pest control places. The owner also said she had never even heard of bed bugs and she acted so offended. I called the pest control guy that the owner used and asked him if he had ever treated this apartment for bed bugs and he said yeah, two months ago. So they knew that this apartment had bed bugs. These bites hurt really bad and itch like crazy! We can’t sleep, it’s messing with us mentally, we’re feeling like we have bugs crawling on, is ahhh! Help!

This all just happened so I’m trying to seek help to get the right treatment done on this apartment because I have children and the people down stairs have a child too and he said they get weird bites also occasionally. I think they are afraid of making trouble or something because he hasn’t reported the bites. So we need help!

Ron Maizel:

My wife and I stayed on a bed and breakfast in New Hope, PA on November 14, 2014. On Sunday, I began itching my arms. On Monday morning, I woke up with over 30 bites on my back, shoulders, up and down my arms. My wife had about thirty or more bites on her arms, neck and shoulders. We contacted hotel and asked for a return call. I went to the doctor that day and was given a steroid cream and they confirmed it was bed bugs. My wife and I used the cream twice a day. My bites showed little improvement but hers swelled horribly into welts and became very painful and itchy. She was given a steroid shot this morning, November 22, and was given a steroid pack to start for a week with more cream. We have noticed new bites now surfacing on our fingers and face and arms. We were told it could be from the same initial feeding period early on the morning of November 15th or they could be from new bites. Our house was checked today and they did not find any remnants of bed bugs but we will be sprayed this coming Wednesday. It is a series of three treatments costly about $2,000. We have of course cleaned all our comforters at the cleaners and have thrown away our luggage. Sadly, the problem seems to be getting worse before better. Please contact me and tell which avenue I should take. I think I may need a lawyer and am not sure how to proceed. I appreciate your time.

Monday, November 24, 2014
Jason Macri:

Ron,

We are sorry to hear about your bed bug attack. Please contact us to discuss your options. Since you stayed at a Bed and Breakfast it will be questionable as to whether the owners have insurance for bed bug bites.

Myself, my husband, our two year old son, and our dog stayed at a La Quinta and experienced bed bugs. We had to take our clothes to a laundromat, have our dog bathed and boarded, have our car cleaned, and had to throw away personal belongings. I have bites all over. We’ve called and left two messages with you and have not received a call back. Will you please help?

Hope,

If you have not already done so, we strongly encourage you and the rest of the family to seek medical treatment with a doctor as soon as possible. Our firm is very familiar with La Quinta hotel and their third party risk administrator. Contact us as soon as possible for a free consultation.

Tanisha Williams:

Hi, we moved into our apartment in June of 2014 (no bed bugs). Shortly after, we leased bunk beds from Aaron’s in October 2014. Now my kids’ room is infested with bed bugs. I called Aaron’s and asked them to come pick up the beds and they refused so we threw them out because I will not have my kids sleeping on those infested beds. They say we have to continue paying for the bunk beds even if we threw them away. I didn’t take pictures, all we had was a video but that’s gone now. My question is what can I do about this?

Emilie:

I moved to NYC in November and when we signed the lease to our apartment we had a piece of paper saying that there was a unit treated for bed bugs in the last month but it was taken care of. About three weeks ago I started to have bites on my arms, hands and feet but couldn’t find any bed bugs. I wasn’t concerned yet because I had not been informed that they were back in the building. One night I flipped my mattress over and found a bed bug. Our management company admitted that there were recent cases in the building but didn’t think it was an issue. We then found out that our next door neighbors had been treated for bed bugs in November and we were never notified. Our building was built in 1910 so there are lots of cracks that bugs can crawl through. We have been treated twice and been living with all of our belonging in garbage bags. I am still getting bit, extremely frustrated and exhausted due to not sleeping at night.

Tanisha,

Based on the limited information provide, it is very difficult for me to tell you what to do. I need to get a better understanding of your claim. Since you did not take photos and lost the videos you are facing an uphill battle from an evidentiary standpoint. Please prepare a detailed time line of all events. Make sure to include all communications with representatives from Aarons. Once you prepared the timeline please give us a call. Thank you.

Grant Schwarz:

Emilie,

In order to have a better understanding of your claim, I need to see a copy of your lease agreement in addition to the “piece of paper” you mentioned. When you have a moment please call our office so we can arrange to get copies of the documents.

Jessica Del Guidice Rittenhouse:

My husband and I are renting from Aaron’s a bedroom set. We started getting bit from the bedbugs that we found. I reported to Aaron’s. They told me that it was my fault. I asked them to come and get the rental item, they said no. I told them that I did not want the rental items in my house. When the mattress came it had a white cover over the top. When we took the cover off the mattress was ripped and was infested with the bedbugs. My husband and I took pictures and wrapped the rental items in plastic. My sister has bites on her as did the rest of my household. Will you please help me?

Grant Schwarz:

Jessica,

We are very sorry to hear about your experience with renting furniture from Aaron’s. It is very unfortunate that they will not send someone to your home to retrieve the rental furniture. We have many questions for you in regards to a potential claim against Aaron’s. Please complete a free consultation request or call us at 855-533-5552. We look forward to hearing from you.

Darnasha Harpster:

I recently traveled to Tulsa OK to work and stayed at the Clarion Hotel. I felt something bite me, never seen anything when I threw the covers back; by the next morning I had five welts on me. I figured the were spider bites. Checked out by the next morning, my welts had tripled in size therefore I went to the ER and was informed that was having an alergic reaction to the bed bug bites. I had to throw everything I had away.

Grant Schwarz:

Darnasha,

Sorry to hear about your experience at the Clarion Hotel. If you have not already done so, we strongly encourage you to take photos of your injuries and report them to the hotel. When you have a moment, give one of our bed bug attorneys a call to further discuss the facts of your case.

Francesca Mendoza:

Hi! About a week ago my mother found out she had a bed bug problem. She got a bed from Aarons furniture rental back in April of this year. The bed is highly infested. Upon calling Aarons she explained and Aarons told her they received a clean bill of health recently but they would come out and inspect the bed. Aarons did come out and inspected the bed and my mother was told that she would be contacted by the GM of Aarons. She has tried numerous times to call and speak with the general manager because no one has called her from Aarons. The person who answers the phone will only take a message. It’s been over a week and she had heard nothing from Aarons! This is rediculous!

Have you tried contacting Aaron’s corporate office? If not, I strongly suggest you do. In the meantime, I encourage you to contact a pest professional and schedule an inspection of your home. Have the exterminator prepare a written estimate and plan for eliminating the bed bugs. Feel free to call us with any additional questions.

Tim:

I had to go to the ER twice for bedbug bites, it took the landlord 65 days before a exterminator came in… is this delay enough to establish negligence?

Friday, August 14, 2015
Jason Macri:

Tim,
In order to give you a definite answer, I need to learn more about the facts of your case. However, generally speaking a 65 day delay in response from a landlord would be considered unreasonable.

Me and my husband went to go get a bed for my son at Aarons and Delano California. We had it inside the house for a couple of hours; when we were putting it together we noted that it was infested with bed bugs. We immediately call the furniture place, I took pictures, we return the bed back the same day but now I have bed bugs in my son’s room. Wanted to know what up what could I do?

Attorney Jason Macri:

Maria,

Aarons Furniture should be responsible for complete remediation of your home and any damaged furniture, carpet, etc, that needs to be replaced.

Rosa:

Hello. I have a question. So last month I went on a business trip with my husband and two of his coworkes we stay in a nice hotel in Arizona. After driving about 9 hrs we arrieved about 3:00am I showered and immediately I went to lay on the bed. About 5 mins I felt something biting me and right after that itchness. I mean it went on for like 2hrs. I finally decided to wake my husband up and tell him I couldn’t sleep, something is bitting. He turned the light on, pull the covers and omg there they where I mean the bed the carpet the whole room was infested with bed bugs my whole body had like hives. I was bitten from head to toe of course I complained to the front desk and she sent some to check she then recieves a call and tney confirmed the bugs she then apologizes and said am sorry we had them clean it becuse the last people that rented the room to had infested the room. I filed a personal injury till this day they have not called me or anything. What should I do?

Tuesday, May 24, 2016
Grant Schwarz:

Rosa, that sounds like a terrible experience for you and your family. Experiencing a bed bug attack is very common but it shouldn’t be if hotels and motels followed strict measures to identify and eliminate bed bug infestations. I recommend calling the office to speak with myself or one of our case analysts to gather more details and steer you in the right direction. When we speak I will ask to see all documents related to your stay at the hotel including your receipt and any incident report from the hotel. I would also need to see photos of your bites, photos of the bugs (if you took them) and copies of any medical records you have regarding treatment for your injuries if any. A good thing to do is to contact the department of health for the state of Arizona and make a complaint. The department of health will conduct an investigation at the hotel and confirm the presence of bed bugs. This is all important information when we are considering a potential claim.

Jennifer Adams:

I own an apartment condominium. My downstairs neighbor has bedbugs and did not treat her apartment properly so now they have spread to my despite the fact that I had so-called preventative treatment provided by the condo association. My question is: since the downstairs tenant did not do what was necessary to eradicate the infestation (they did exterminate but did not wash all of their clothing and put it in bags, etc), would it be possible for me to take legal action against them allowing the infestation to spread to my apartment? Since I own my apartment, and the downstairs person owns their apartment (although they are renting to a tenant and not keeping on top of the situation)I am not sure what kind of rules apply to condominiums in apartment buildings.

Thanks!

Tuesday, August 30, 2016
Grant Schwarz:

Jennifer, the rules that apply to apartments and condos are generally the same from state to state but there are also rules that govern the use and maintenance or property in a homeowner or condo association. In order to properly advise you and provide a case evaluation, we would need to know what state you are in.
