Driver Health Could Reduce Risk of Hollywood Truck Accidents

Bobit Business Media hosted its second annual Fleet Safety Conference in Illinois in June and announced the new National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners initiative, according to Trucking Info.

Dr. Dave McKinney spoke to attendees about the importance of the health of truck drivers in the United States and its importance for all motorists, passengers and pedestrians. Drivers are currently required to have a checkup once every two years, which Dr. McKinney believes is inefficient.

The new initiative will require drivers to pass physicals more often by a doctor that is approved by the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. “There are certain examiners people seek out because they’ll pass anybody,” said Dr. McKinney. McKinney also stressed the importance of a good diet, regular sleep and exercise for truck drivers. “I know of no organic food bar that has parking spaces for truckers,” he said.

McKinney raises some interesting points. Healthier drivers could result in fewer health conditions that could contribute to a Hollywood, Florida truck accident.
