Florida Injury Lawyer: Marathon Truck Accident Injures Several Motorists

A Marathon truck accident in the Florida Keys injured several people on December 3 when three tractor-trailers collided. According to the Monroe County Sherriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 2:37 a.m. near mile marker 63 on U.S. 1. At the time of this report, it is unclear how the trucks collided into each other, but several people were critically injured in the accident.

One person was trapped inside one of the trucks for more than two hours and was airlifted to a Miami hospital. The accident caused a huge fuel and oil spill that required hours of work from emergency crews to clear.

When truck accidents involve multiple semi-trucks and tractor-trailers, serious injuries can occur, even to those who are not involved in the accident. Large trucks frequently overturn in collisions, and trucks can easily spill loads of fuel, metal and other dangerous products onto the roadways, causing dangerous driving conditions for other motorists. Explosions and fires are also common in large truck accidents, which could create hazardous traffic situations.
