Nationwide Car Insurance Claims

Nationwide is one of the largest automobile insurance companies available to consumers in the United Sates today. They operate in over 40 states and offer the convenience of purchasing insurance directly online.

Nationwide offers a wide range of auto insurance policies that promise to offer more advanced claims service, insurance discounts, a review that keeps up with customer’s driving habits and annual discounts based on maintaining a clean driving record, and 24 hour customer service and claims. Along with easy payment plans and competitive rates, Nationwide Mutual offers accident forgiveness to their policy holders and a “vanishing deductible” program that slowly puts credit towards a customer’s deductible until he or she no longer has one.

In 2009, Nationwide released an iPhone application that allowed drivers to access their policy, make payments, and even submit claims. Nationwide policy holders can use their iPhone application to look up local body shops and even take the other party’s information when an accident occurs.

History of Nationwide Auto Insurance

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company began its history in 1925 as the Farm Bureau Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in Columbus, Ohio. As a law in Ohio, you had to have over 100 policy holders in order to be considered a legitimate insurance company. The first agents of Farm Bureau Mutual were able to lock in over ten times that amount by 1926 and began business with over 1,000 policy holders.

Farm Bureau Mutual started their business with the sole purpose of providing quality automobile insurance to consumers. Majority of their policies were provided to Ohio farmers, but by 1928 they began offering their automobile insurance services to consumers in West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Vermont, and North Carolina.

In 1934, Farm Bureau Mutual began to offer fire insurance to policy holders. With that expansion of services came the expansion of office space as well. By 1936, the company relocated to the famous 246 Building located in Columbus, Ohio. By 1951, Farm Bureau Mutual began to open regional offices in the states they were currently offering insurance policies to.

In the 1970’s, Farm Bureau Mutual became Nationwide Insurance, and by 1978 the company had constructed their own skyscraper in downtown Columbus that was named the Nationwide Plaza.
