One Killed in Palm Coast Truck Accident on I-95

A tanker driver was killed in a Palm coast truck accident on I-95 that ended in flames. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that the accident occurred when the tanker rear-ended a tractor-trailer on I-95, which caused the tanker to overturn. An explosion from the tanker occurred shortly after the accident, killing the driver inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the accident. The highway was initially shut down in both directions after the accident, and the northbound lanes remained closed until about 12 hours after the incident.

According to FHP, a 14-mile stretch of the highway was “severely damaged” from the flames of the explosion, which melted parts of the road. An investigation into the accident is ongoing and no charges have been filed.
