Client Goes To Disney World

Our clients, a family of four, went for a vacation to Disney World. They were staying at a hotel in or near downtown Disney (although not associated/affiliated with Disney). The hotel had great reviews, had a big pool, and had a lot of amenities. It seemed like a dream vacation for a family that lives year round in cold northern weather. Our clients arrived at the hotel and were swept off their feet. They relaxed, they went swimming, they went to Disney World, Universal Studios, and a few other theme parks. However after the first day they began to see, what the originally believed, were mosquito bites. The bites in the beginning were only itchy. The family assumed it was as a result of being outside all the time. That night they went to sleep and when they woke up they found blood in the bed. Now they knew something was up since it could not be coincidence that every single one of them had blood in their bed. They looked down at their ankles and legs and saw deep red welts. They knew it could not have been mosquito bites at this point. Not knowing what else to do, they called the Orlando Bed Bug Lawyers Dell and Schaefer. Our firm knew exactly what had happened. The family was the victim of a dirty hotel that did not take proper hygienic measures to be sure the rooms were properly cleaned.

Dell and Schaefer Negotiate A Settlement

Because there was blood coming from all their welts on their bodies, they went to the emergency room. They were diagnosed with blisters and allergic inflammation due to bed bug infestation and exposure. The doctor prescribed topical medication. Immediately after our clients returned home from their vacation, our firm got the medical records and filed a bodily injury demand against the hotel. Our firm sought monetary compensation for the bodily injury, pain and suffering, loss of consortium, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, property damage, past and future medical expenses and lost wages. After a lengthy negotiation the case settled for $30,000.

My husband bought a resort package with blue-green. We were misled from the beginning we thought we were staying at the Tradewinds. One week prior we found out we were staying at the Comfort in in St.Pete on 54th st. After our stay we all had rashes and bites. Monday I had Massey come out they said we are infested with bed bugs. They told us they have been here for about three weeks. The cost is 1100.00 and all of our beds and couches are now in the garbage. I called blue green to come up with a solution. I was just asking if they would pay the 1100.00 and I would pay for everything else. Blue green put us in this hotel. They said they were not responsible. I have never had bed bugs before this is terrible.

Crystal, it sounds like you could potentially have a claim against the vacation rental company and/or the owner. If you were bit and suffered injuries as a result of bed bugs in the room, it is important that you take pictures while the bites are still fresh. It is also important that you seek medical attention if the symptoms do not resolve or if you are experiencing a lot of pain or allergic reaction to the bites. Collecting evidence is the most important part of any potential case. If you have photos of the bugs, back them up so they do not get lost. You should also make a note of everyone you spoke to, when you spoke to them and what the content of the conversation was. Keep all records of your stay and proof of the booking.
