Client Goes To Disney World
Our clients, a family of four, went for a vacation to Disney World. They were staying at a hotel in or near downtown Disney (although not associated/affiliated with Disney). The hotel had great reviews, had a big pool, and had a lot of amenities. It seemed like a dream vacation for a family that lives year round in cold northern weather. Our clients arrived at the hotel and were swept off their feet. They relaxed, they went swimming, they went to Disney World, Universal Studios, and a few other theme parks. However after the first day they began to see, what the originally believed, were mosquito bites. The bites in the beginning were only itchy. The family assumed it was as a result of being outside all the time. That night they went to sleep and when they woke up they found blood in the bed. Now they knew something was up since it could not be coincidence that every single one of them had blood in their bed. They looked down at their ankles and legs and saw deep red welts. They knew it could not have been mosquito bites at this point. Not knowing what else to do, they called the Orlando Bed Bug Lawyers Dell and Schaefer. Our firm knew exactly what had happened. The family was the victim of a dirty hotel that did not take proper hygienic measures to be sure the rooms were properly cleaned.
Dell and Schaefer Negotiate A Settlement
Because there was blood coming from all their welts on their bodies, they went to the emergency room. They were diagnosed with blisters and allergic inflammation due to bed bug infestation and exposure. The doctor prescribed topical medication. Immediately after our clients returned home from their vacation, our firm got the medical records and filed a bodily injury demand against the hotel. Our firm sought monetary compensation for the bodily injury, pain and suffering, loss of consortium, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, property damage, past and future medical expenses and lost wages. After a lengthy negotiation the case settled for $30,000.
