Sand Spills on Turnpike after Miami Truck Accident

Cleanup crews in Northwest Miami worked to clear sand off the Florida Turnpike after a truck rolled over and spilled it on July 9, according to WSVN 7 News. The truck turned over on the Turnpike just north of 106th Street before 1 p.m., according to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR).

Investigators believe the truck rolled over after colliding with a guardrail. At least two other vehicles were involved in the Miami truck accident: a large van and an SUV. The SUV rolled over onto its roof and the van had damage to its side panel. The SUV driver was transported to a nearby hospital with undisclosed injuries. The Hazmat crew also cleaned up what was described as a small fuel leak from the truck.

The FHP and MDFR should be commended for their response to this accident. It is fortunate the truck was not shipping hazardous chemicals or materials or additional people could have been hurt.
