Truck Driver Sued for Palm Beach Truck Accident

The family of a man killed in a Palm Beach truck accident is suing the truck driver and his employer for wrongful death. A 51-year-old man was killed in December 2012 in a fiery truck accident on the Florida Turnpike. His family filed a lawsuit in November against the truck driver and the driver’s employer, claiming he is responsible for the accident.

Last year, a chain-reaction accident occurred when the 51-year-old victim hit a concrete divider on the Turnpike and rolled the vehicle onto its side in the left northbound lane. The trucker that is being sued was also heading northbound and moved into the left lane when he saw a police car with its lights on in the right shoulder. The truck driver did not see the victim’s overturned vehicle in time and crashed into it, causing both the semi-truck and the victim’s vehicle to catch fire. The victim’s passenger was also killed in the accident.

The lawsuit is seeking damages for the victim’s surviving spouse and their two children.

Large truck accidents can often cause serious or fatal injuries due to a commercial truck’s large size and inability to stop quickly at high speeds. When a semi-truck is involved in an accident, it can be difficult to figure out who it at fault and whether the truck driver, trucking company or owner of the truck is to blame. An experienced Florida accident attorney can investigate and figure out these facts.
