motorcycle-insurance-lawAs of February 2015 the laws have changed that now require motorcycle owners to purchase insurance to drive a motorcycle. The minimum amount of insurance that is recommended to purchase would be $10,000 per person with a maximum of $20,000 total per accident for bodily injury caused to others as well as $10,000 in property damage coverage. The amount of insurance that you purchase depends on your financial situation. If you have more assets to protect, then you should purchase more bodily injury coverage. In addition a motorcycle insurance policy should always have a coverage called uninsured/underinsured motorist protection. This protects you for injuries or medical bills incurred as a result of the negligence of another who fails to carry bodily injury coverage or fails to carry enough bodily injury coverage.
