If I am unable to work as a result of injuries I sustained in a Florida auto accident, who will pay those wages?

Under the terms of your Personal Injury Protection (PIP) policy, you can collect 60% of your wage loss almost immediately. The 40% not covered by PIP will be part of your damage claim against the at-fault party. It is important to file a no-fault or PIP claim immediately after the accident. Every auto policy in Florida has at least $10,000.00 in benefits available for each person injured. PIP covers both medical bills and lost wages, regardless of fault. It is important to reserve benefits for wage loss following the accident so that the benefits are not exhausted paying medical bills before your lost wage claim is documented and processed. If PIP benefits are exhausted paying medical bills and/or partial wage loss, the balance of unpaid wages will be compensable as part of your damage claim against the negligent driver.
