Why Should I Hire A Florida Car Accident Attorney To Help Me With My Personal Injury Case

Every week our Florida car accident lawyers speak with numerous people that have been injured in an auto accident due to no fault of their own. There are some people that try to handle a claim on their own, only to learn that the car insurance company is trying to low ball them. Below is list of five reasons to hire an experienced car accident attorney to help you with your case:

REASON ONE: Don’t take a chance or take a risk on anything! Why would you? Legal advice on an accident case is free. Simply pick up the phone, send an email or even a text and you can get free advice on how to proceed. Clearly, a lawyer has more working knowledge than any non-lawyer. Don’t take any risks. You have already been injured, don’t make it worse.

REASON TWO: At the beginning of a case there are many things you need to do. Some of those things cannot be done later on. In other words, you lose the opportunity if not done immediately. Often the location or scene where the accident has occurred can rapidly change. If it does, you could lose the opportunity for photographs, measurements, and important diagnostic tests.

REASON THREE: Insurance companies are notorious for calling, emailing and attempting to meet with unrepresented accident victims. The insurance companies’ adjusters’ efforts are to secure statements and evidence that undermines the accident victim, while potentially saving thousands of dollars for the insurance company. This cannot happen if you engage a lawyer to represent you.

REASON FOUR: Lawyers who handle personal injury cases are experts at being able to present the best case for you to the insurance company. Lawyers know how to document evidence whether it be related to medical records, liability, damages or past medical issues that need to be recognized and minimized to benefit your case. Without the knowledge, training and experience, and the understanding of the applicable law, an accident case can be destroyed.

REASON FIVE: No one can negotiate a settlement like an experienced personal injury lawyer. There are two basic reasons among many others. Firstly, experienced personal injury lawyers negotiate with insurance companies all day long. It is what we do. Secondly, if the negotiations fail personal injury lawyers can file lawsuits. The insurance company has no incentive to pay an unrepresented accident victim because the unrepresented accident victim creates no threat to the company. Insurance companies know that an unrepresented accident victim can’t do anything in furtherance of their own case. Only a lawyer can do that.

James Henderson:

On saturday 11-30 at 10:19am I was riding my bicycle in key west on south street headed east. A 2006 honda odyssey mini van, traveling on Thompson St. (headed south) coasted a stop sign and accelerated through the intersection I had the right of way in. I was struck on the left side of my body almost head on and rolled onto the hood of the mini van. The van sped up (perhaps a reaction trying to hit brake but hit gas instead) and I rolled onto the windshield spider wbbing it splitting my head wide open on the left hand side. The van slammed its brakes on and I was thrown ontop of my bike, bouncing off the bike slamming into the ground on my right side and rolling on the ground road rashing my knees elbows and feet.

I attempting to stand and was immediately blinded by the blood streaming from my large head wound. I layed on the ground and instructed the people at the scene (no emergency responders at this time) to call 911 and tell them I have a severe head injury, etc.

I received the police report today and I am at no fault (which I knew at time and ever since the accident, its just now offically on paper).

I have talked with a claims adjuster and they are preparing an offer for settlement once they receive a few more items such as cost of lost/destroyed items (bike, prescription polarized sunglasses, clothes, etc.) and photos of my injuries. They attempted to send a field specialist to key west to photograph themselves but one could not be sent until the 9th, ten days after the accident. I took a phone interview and answered the questions thoroughly, I made no comments which detract from the seriousness of the accident or the neglect and 100% fault of the driver of the mini van.

I have a 20+ stitch multiple separate slices laceration on the left side of my head, my left knee is mangled and bruised, very tender to walk on and road rash spread across my body.

I do not have an attorney representing me and I just received the police reports today, Friday 12-6.

Any and all help in this matter will be appreciated.
